Navajoland
In March of 2004 I studied under
accomplished landscape photographer Alain Briot during a workshop in Navajo land
in northern Arizona. The studies were primarily focused on studying
"light" and "composition." We visited some of the most beautiful locations
in the area including Canyon de Chelly, Monument Valley, and Sedona. The
images in the list at left were captured as part of that workshop. I
hope you enjoy the images and find one that brings back fond memories or
conjures up dreams of future places to visit.
The
Navajoland Portfolio is now on display at
Distant Mesas Native American Art Gallery in
Charleston, WV.
The Distant Mesas exhibit came
down in October 2005, ending a very successful display of over 9 months.
You can see the Navajo Portfolio at the Pendleton Studio 132 in Ashland, KY.
The portfolio includes 6 framed and 14 matted art pieces of 16x20' or
larger. This is a great chance to see in person the quality of the
prints and presentation on this unique portfolio.

As you can see in these photographs, Distant Mesas has some beautiful Native
American art, pottery, weavings, and jewelry. The gallery is a
treasure in the state of West Virginia.
Above, a customer views the fine art mat prints with the framed Upper
Antelope on the wall to the upper right and the framed Mittens panoramic on
the upper left. The Antelope print is in the "Slot Canyon" portfolio
on this website. The framed Mummy Cave panoramic print has now been
added to the gallery and is below the White House ruin pictured here, just
below The Mittens.
The
gallery is also the exclusive distributor of scented soap by Sandia Soap
Company in Albuquerque, NM. The soap is a huge hit in the gallery.
You can also find some wonderful southwest teas and coffees. Dave and
John are excellent hosts at the gallery. If you are in Charleston, WV,
stop by and take in this wonderful gallery of Native American art.
The photograph on the left shows the wide assortment of pottery and artwork
available in the gallery as well as the Montezuma's Castle (left) and
Horseshoe Bend (upper right) prints. The Horseshoe Bend print is found
in the "Grand Canyon" portfolio on this website.
