The image:   The Andromeda Galaxy is certainly one of our jewels in the night sky.  The galaxy is over 2 million light years away, but it is so large and bright that it can be seen with the naked eye from dark skies.  The galaxy spans over 3 degrees of sky.  This field of view also includes the two companion galaxies M32 (top) and M110.  The image is unique in that it is a blend of film and CCD.  The larger field is a blend of two 60 minute exposures on PPF 400 Kodak 120 film taken with the Pentax 6x7 camera. The brighter portion of the Andromeda Galaxy is blended with a 3 pane mosaic taken with an ST10 astronomical CCD camera.  The CCD data helps to smooth out the galaxy spiral arms and aid in contrast enhancement.  All of the images were taken with an Astro-Physics 130EDT refractor which is 1040mm at f8.  The image is very smooth and presents the galaxy in a very natural color reproduction.  Please let me know if you have any questions on the image.

The print:    The print is made with Epson ultrachrome inks on profiled Premium Luster Epson paper  The print and mat board are hand signed.  The mat is a double mat with the object information on the inside mat.  The print and mat are hinge mounted to an acid free foam core board and then packaged in a clear photographic bag.  The foam core board has the Jeff Ball seal of authenticity to ensure that you have full access to the Jeff Ball guarantees.  Prints larger than 16x20" framed will be in a limited edition and signed and numbered accordingly.  This is a great chance to pick up a fine art print with the best material and workmanship available today.  Thanks for your interest and let me know if you have any questions about the print.
