Milky Way Over Balanced Rock
Milky Way Over Balanced RockLight from the center of the Milky Way Galaxy is roughly 20,000 light years away. There is no better place to take in that ancient light than from the American Southwest where Earth's ancient rocks create wonderful foregrounds in which to view the Milky Way. This image is a 7 frame stitch from Arches National Park in June 2010. The image is located in the Color Astronomical Gallery at the bottom of the page.
I am not sure what the radiating rays of light may be. They seem to be originating from Balanced Rock. Perhaps a very dim source of light or some atmospheric phenomena.

Atlantic Morning
Atlantic MorningIn preparing for my next show in Myrtle Beach I began to review some of my work from the coastline of the U.S. I rediscovered "Atlantic Morning" and decided to add it to the newly renamed "Florida and Atlantic" portfolio. I visited the coast every morning on this visit to Hilton Head and was rewarded one morning with this beautiful mix of clouds. The print will be featured at the upcoming art show in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Flowing Water Workshop Announced
I am very excited to announce a new workshop focused on incorporating flowing water in landscape photography. The workshop will focus on techniques for incorporating water in landscape compositions as well as ways to include flowing water as the main element in the composition. The workshop will take place in the beautiful highlands of West Virginia in May 2011. The Blackwater Falls Lodge will be our base location. This exciting workshop is limited to only 6 participants. The workshop is also taking place over a long weekend so that minimum vacation time will be needed. So if you find this workshop is for you, please register as quickly as you can.

Elakala Falls with Black and White Interpretation
Elakala Falls in Black and WhiteI consider Elakala Falls a wonderful fall for black and white interpretation. Delicate streaming flows of water provide a graphically interesting scene that works well in a monochromatic presentation. Elakala Falls in Black and White is now in the Water Portfolio.
